Perfectionism means having all things perfect and nothing imperfect. In this blog i am going to talk about perfectionism.
1. Create progress and not perfection:- Our addiction to progress should be attached to your action and then progress will happen. Perfectionism leads to limitation. It also leads to paralysis. We are scared to vulnerable so only we want perfect in everything. Nothing is perfect. Only progress can replace perfect. It’s better to be 70 % in everything that expect everything to be perfect.
2. Accept Inconsistency:- No one in this world has been perfect. You can choose how to feel a felling. How deep can you go? It helps you overcome perfectionism. Another thing which we need to do is acknowledge that no one is perfect. Inconsistency will happen. Because that’s life. Courage doesn’t mean that your not in fear, it means you do it even though you have fear. Similarly to overcome perfectionism we need to accept that inconsistency is part of living and also not every time all things will happen will be perfect.
3.Don’t be perfect but be a high performer:- Perfectionism might be our block. That might stop us from success. Think about why you criticise yourself. Then think where did it come from. This is a inner critic and when we don’t do things perfect you criticise yourself. Stop criticise yourself for not being perfect. No person who wants to be perfect is happy or successful. Instead of trying to be perfect try to be a high performer. If a athlete wants to score 9 out of 10 times there are changes he will do it but if he feels that he has to score 10 out of 10 then in those tension he might score less than 5 itself. Successful people have 3 things in common- they explore, experiment and experience but people who wants to be perfect who do these 3 things. Switch the mindset for perfectionism to high performance mindset. High performers- reflect and introspect while perfectionists judge and criticise . Perfectionist is pulled by fear while High performer is pulled by love. Perfectionist don’t want to make mistakes while High performer accepts and learns from it.High performer enjoys the process while Perfectionist only want results.
I hope this helps you. Have a great day and days ahead!
